Harikishan Giri Goswami (b. July 24, ) from the Pakhtun town of Abbotabad migrated with his family in the sad season of Partition in to the Kingsway Camp for refugees in Delhi. He was to grow up as a strapping handsome boy who took on the screen name of Manoj Kumar, after the character played by Peshawari Dilip Kumar in Shabnam ().

Manoj Kumar (born Harikrishan Goswami; 24 July ) is an Indian actor, film director, screenwriter, lyricist and editor who worked in Hindi cinema who is retired actor. He is known for acting and making films with patriotic themes, and has been given the nickname Bharat Kumar.[A] He is the recipient of a National Film Award and seven Filmfare Awards, in varied categories. He was honoured the Padma Shri in and Dadasaheb Phalke Award; highest award in field of cinema in by the Government of India for his contribution to Indian cinema and arts.
