    Based largely on the show, Yo soy Betty, la fea, the show follows the life of Jasmeet Walia known as Jassi (Mona Singh) who is a plain-looking young woman from a middle-class family in Mumbai. Jassi is a sincere worker and has been working to support her family. She is naive but intelligent. She has always been supported and encouraged by her father, grandmother (Bebe), and her close friend Nandu (Gaurav Gera) but she has faced rejection largely from society simply because of her looks.     Pubali Sanyal is an actress in TV and films. She hails from Calcutta and was brought up in this place. She did her schooling and college from Salt Lake City and later got active in theatre. Thanks to her interest that developed in her school days. She used to participate in different plays and shows that continued in her college leading to different theatre groups. She then headed to Mumbai and her career soon started with a small screen. She then got the chance to work in B Town film and was seen in the movie Saathiya in 2002 with Rani Mukherji and Vivek Oberoi in 2002.
