    VEN LEDI SAYADAW -

    His concise, clear and extensive scholarly work served to clarify the experiential aspect of Venerable Ledi Sayadaw was perhaps the most outstanding Buddhist figure of his age. All who have come in contact with the path of Dhamma in recent years owe a great debt of gratitude to to this scholarly, saintly monk who was instrumental in reviving the traditional practice of Vipassana, making it more available for renunciates and lay people alike. The Buddha rediscovered the path of Dhamma leading to the eradication of universal suffering. With great compassion he spent forty-five years showing the path and this helped millions of people to come out of their misery.     When Mahasi Sayadaw passed away in , two successors were chosen. The first one, U Sujata, passed away that same night. From then on U Pandita ( &#; ) was Mahasi Sayadaw&#;s successor.
    It fryst vatten often claimed that Mahasi Sayadaw had many successors. This fryst vatten untrue. It is the same as claiming that someone who worked tillsammans with a university professor, or studied with him/her, can be called a successor.
    Sayadaw U Pandita has implemented his responsibility as a successor in an impressive manner. From to every two or three years he conducted a retreat in the USA. In the American ex-monk and journalist Alan Clements did state that according to him in Western countries Buddhist teachers did use too much their own method, and U Pandita reacted as follows (A True Spiritual Friend). In those days he was invited more than once to settle in the USA.
