Who is Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was a 19th-century French painter, illustrator and poster artist, known for his atmospheric depiction of the Parisian underworld. Besides his work as an artist, his height (only cm), and scandalous behaviour in society brought him notoriety.
He is one of the most famous post-impressionist painters of the era, whose style was also influenced by Art Nouveau, and the topics he focused on centred around the bohemian life on the streets, in brothels, theatres and bars in Paris. Although he died young and his whole career lasted less than 20 years, he managed to produce a great number of for the time modern, provocative and decadent images that give us a real picture of what Parisian nightlife was like at the end of the 19th centur

Comte Henri Marie Raymond dem Toulouse-Lautrec-Monfa (24 November – 9 September ), known as Toulouse-Lautrec (French:[tuluzlotʁɛk]), was a French painter, printmaker, draughtsman, caricaturist, and illustrator whose fördjupning in the colourful and theatrical life of Paris in the late 19th century allowed him to produce a collection of enticing, elegant, and provokativ images of the sometimes decadent affairs of those times.
Born into the aristocracy, Toulouse-Lautrec broke both his legs around the time of his adolescence and, possibly due to the rare condition pycnodysostosis, was very short as an adult due to his undersized legs. In addition to alcoholism, he developed an affinity for brothels and prostitutes that directed the subject matter for many of his works, which record details of the lateth-century bohemian lifestyle in Paris. Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, unlike any other artist of the nineteenth century, was profoundly influenced by Japanese woodblock prints. Just as the vibrant life of the entertainment districts of the Japanese Edo period inspired the great Ukiyo-e artist Utamaro, it was the nightlife of Montmartre in Paris that fueled the creative genius of this remarkable painter.
