American football player
David A Hubbard (born September 29, 1955) is a former college and professional American football player who is now a speaker and author on health and fitness. From 2013 to 2017 he was a pastor on staff at the Church of The Apostles in Atlanta, Georgia. Hubbard is presently Athletic Director and Director of Development for The Cumberland School, a private Christian school in Cobb County, Georgia.
Early life
[edit]Hubbard grew up in Napa, California where he was a member of the first graduating class of Vintage High School.[1] In 1973, he received a full athletic scholarship to Brigham Young University, where he played offensive tackle and guard under LaVell Edwards.[2] During his time at BYU, Hubbard played in the Fiesta Bowl and in the Senior Bowl.[3]

David Hubbard (1792-1874) was a veteran of the War of 1812 and a politician who served in the Alabama House of Representatives, the Alabama Senate, and the U.S. Congress. An ardent supporter of slavery and southern rights, Hubbard also served in the Congress of the Confederates States of America and government during the American Civil War.
David Hubbard Hubbard was born near the town of Old Liberty (present-day Bedford), Virginia, to Thomas Mortimer Hubbard and Mary Blakely Swann Hubbard and was one of perhaps eight siblings. (At least one contemporary source lists his place of birth as Tennessee.) He came from an influential family that had a long history in Virginia: His father was a well-traveled officer in the Continental Army, and he was a cousin of Texas war hero and governor Samuel Houston, though the two men did not appear to be close. In his youth, Hubbard attended local county schools and pursued some higher education before enlisting in the army during the War of 1812.

OBITUARY: Ex-Fuller President David Hubbard Dies
The day before graduation ceremonies at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, the man who led the school to become the world’s largest interdenominational seminary died. David Allan Hubbard, 68, died of a heart attack on June 7.
During his 30-year presidency, a post he assumed in 1963 at age 35, Hubbard added a School of Psychology and a School of World uppdrag to Fuller’s School of Theology, both in 1965.
An Old Testament scholar, Hubbard published 36 books, including “Psalms for All Seasons” and “The Practice of Prayer.”
